Do I need a new pump?
No. The D’MAND Kontrols® system works with your existing compatible recirculation pump. You can start saving water right away, and if you later upgrade to a higher-flow pump, hot water may arrive faster.
Will hot water arrive faster?
D’MAND Kontrols® controls when the recirculation pump operates. The actual speed at which hot water reaches a fixture depends on factors including the pump’s flow performance and the home’s plumbing system.
A higher-flow compatible pump may deliver hot water faster, but a pump upgrade is not required to start saving water.
How does the system save water?
Without hot water recirculation, homeowners may run a faucet or shower while waiting for cooled water in the hot-water line to be replaced by hot water from the water heater.
D’MAND Kontrols® uses a recirculation pump to move hot water through the plumbing system on demand, helping reduce the amount of water that would otherwise be sent down the drain while waiting.
Does the pump run all the time?
No. D’MAND Kontrols® is designed around on-demand operation. The pump operates when hot water is requested rather than continuously circulating hot water throughout the day.
